Book Week

I wasn't at school on Monday, the dress-up day for Book-week, but look what turned up??  A lot of effort and work went into making this costume.  Well done Jarrad or should I say "Steve" from Minecraft.

Visit to Starlab

Last week we visited Starlab in Stratford at the War Memorial.  It was like a blow-up igloo.  We sat on the floor, and watched as stars were projected on the roof around us.  We could identify a group of stars - Matariki and the Southern Cross.  We learnt that the Earths Shadow is not black like ours, but red and that is why sometimes the moon is red - it has the earths shadow on it!  We learnt that the earth spins and that is what makes it night and day and how the earth moves around the sun and what it does in one whole year.

Kawakawa Distillation

Today we brewed a fresh batch of Kawakawa hydrosol.  This is awesome if you have excema or itchy bites.  We sell it for $12.  Come visit our class for a bottle.  Here are the budding scientists at work, recording every 10 minutes the results.
